Acne is a very common problem among people of all ages. One of the most asked questions I get as a Makeup Artist is how I conceal acne blemishes & how I make the coverage last. Below is an example & complete product breakdown of a recent glam session with a good friend of mine (thank you Tihana for allowing me to use your before & after images).
*Please bare in mind this glam is not meant for everyday, this was a full glamour evening look created to last all day & night, again NOT for everyday wear – although if you wanted to you totally could :)*
Fist step & the most important is skin care. You want to make sure that the skin is well hydrated but not greasy, so you want to use a light moisturiser that is not too heavy on the skin. I started off by using the Embroylisse Lait-Creme Concentrete Moisturiser. On top of that I applied the Make Up For Ever Base Matifiante Mattifying Primer this is one of my favourite primers for oily skin as it completely mattifies the skin & is long lasting. I applied this to her whole face, avoiding the under eyes. For the under eyes I applied the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Creme, it is important to keep the under eyes well hydrated as it helps the appearance of fine lines, dark circles & cakey conceler.
For the base, I first corrected the redness of the acne with a green concealer, I used the green in the Make Up For Ever 5 Camouflage Cream Concealer Palette. I then applied the foundation for which I mixed small amounts of the Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet, Make Up For Ever HD & Estee Lauder Double wear (all are full coverage foundations, but using small amounts of each). For her under eye highlight I first used a small amount of the Kryolan Dermacolor Concealer in the shade ‘D3W’ to correct the slight darkness under her eyes, I then mixed a small amount of the Keyyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in the shade SX07 & a small amount of the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ‘Ginger’ & applied that to her under eyes, chin & forehead & blended that out with a damp beauty blender. I set that all in place with the Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Powder, using the ‘baking/cooking’ method. To contour I first used the Bobbi Brown Foundation stick in ‘Walnut’ & blended that out. I went over that with the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer, applied MAC Mineralize Blush in ‘Warm Soul’ & lastly for the highlight I used the Mary-Loumanizer by the balm.
For the eyes, I started off with the MAC Paintpot in’ Soft Ochre’. I applied the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in ‘Bourbon’ as a base for the eyeshadow. The eyeshadows used were all from the Stila in the know palette & the Stila Eyes Are The Window ‘Soul’ palette. In the inner corners I applied Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow ‘Cosmic’ to open up her eyes & add a little extra glamour. I also Used Makeup Geek Gel Liner ‘Immortal’ to create a winged liner & the Illamasqua gel liner for her waterline, as it’s wateproof Lashes used were Modelrock Lashes #52
On the Lips I Used MAC Lip Liner in ‘Spice’ & the Sportsgirl Lip Chalk in ‘Sandstorm’.
For the brows I used the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder in ‘Dark Brown’ and the Australia clear brow gel.
That is the entire makeup look broken down! I hope you guys enjoyed this blog post, let me know in the comments if you have any further questions about the techniques or products used. If there is anything in particular you would like to see on my blog feel free to also leave them in the comments!
